Our Covid Guidelines

You are here: Home / News / Our Covid Guidelines

There are currently no restrictions on how many people can take part in outdoor events. All forms of activity can now take place without set restrictions, however, the pandemic is far from over and the Capel Military Show (CMS) recognise that it is important that we encourage the continued implementation of some of the safeguarding measures that have been in place over the last 18 months.

The Show takes place in open fields with very few enclosed spaces and we have maximised the available space to reduce and minimise the amount of time people spend in close proximity to each other. Those areas that are enclosed, such as marquees, will be adequately ventilated and numbers restricted. Locations where masks may be required will be signed, some areas will be at the discretion of the individual trader or food vendor and we ask that you respect their wishes. Sanitation and hand washing facilities will be provided around the site and toilets serviced regularly.

To ensure our event is as Covid safe as possible we are implementing the following measures and guidelines which are based on our Covid-19 Risk Assessment for the event and government advice:

  • All participants, event staff and visitors are encouraged to check for symptoms of COVID-19 (a high temperature, new and persistent cough, or a loss of/change in sense of taste or smell) before travelling to the event.
  • Participants, event staff and visitors must not attend the event if they need to self-isolate, for example because they have been asked to self-isolate by NHS Test and Trace, are required to isolate after travel, or because they are displaying any COVID-19 symptoms.
  • Participants, event staff and visitors are encouraged to download and use the NHS app to log in at the event.
  • An NHS Covid Pass is not required but we recommend doing the NHS regular rapid test scheme which recommends a lateral flow test twice a week (every 3 to 4 days) to check if you have the virus, particularly prior to attending the event.
  • Participants, event staff and visitors should continue to maintain good hand hygiene, covering mouths/noses when coughing or sneezing, and we encourage you to bring your own hand sanitiser and wipes.
  • Face coverings are no longer required by law, but the government recommends that people should continue to wear them in crowded and enclosed settings, to protect themselves and others.
  • Participants, event staff and visitors should undertake their own health risk assessment, considering if they wish to travel to and attend such an event (taking into account age and any health conditions or vulnerabilities).
  • Adhere to any relevant COVID-19 safety measures in place at the event, including observing directions given by CMS Marshals.
  • Everyone is encouraged to respect individuals’ space and minimise the amount of time visitors spend in close proximity to each other.
  • Shared surfaces and equipment will be regularly cleaned.

Your support in helping us with these measures is appreciated and we look forward to seeing you at the Show.
